As of Tuesday, the 3-G rule will generally apply when entering Austria. In addition to PCR tests that are no more than 72 hours old, antigen tests are also permitted, which must not have been taken more than 24 hours ago. This is stated in the decree of the Ministry of Health published today. Antigen tests for self-testing are excluded. Minors under the age of 12 are not required to provide 3-G detection.
The document indicates that the 13th amendment to the Covid-19 entry regulation takes effect on Feb. 22. For genesis and subsequently vaccinated persons, it shortens the validity of the vaccination from 270 to 180 days. As stated in the regulation, any costs for one of the necessary proofs abroad are to be borne by oneself. Special rules for commuters and school-age children have been removed from the previous code in favor of the unified requirements.
New virus variant areas are exempt from the 3-G rule. Entrants must show credible evidence that they have been outside these states or provinces exclusively within the past ten days. Otherwise, registration and a ten-day quarantine are required. This quarantine is considered to have ended once a negative test result is obtained. However, no regions are currently defined as virus variant areas.
